With depleting natural resources and a crunch faced by the entire world, it is but obvious to shift to the untapped sources of energy which if utilized appropriately can resolve our future power issues.  Among many such resources, solar energy is one such natural resource, which has immense potential waiting to be utilized to its optimum value.

Solar energy is the energy generated from sun’s heat. It is the most natural, unpolluted and cleans form of energy which can be tapped through devices like solar panels and used for heating water, harnessing electricity and even generating a bounty of power to run heavy load machinery.

Building solar panels is a great way to store the solar energy to run different gadgets to be used in a household or for commercial purposes alike. It can help you save energy and would even increase the value of your property (if it has a solar panel built on it). Here are a few tips on how to make a solar panel

    * Take a copper sheet and clean it well with sandpaper to free it from any corrosion and cut it in a square or rectangle shape with the help of metal shears( big enough to fit the electric burner)

    * Place this sheet on a burner and light it until a thick layer of cupric oxide covers the sheet and then allow it to cool .Wash it under running water to let go of the oxide layer

    * Cut a same sized sheet and use alligator clips to attach these two pieces of sheet. Use a top u glass jar and gently bend the sheets to fix them inside the jar. Remember that the positive terminal of the meter should be connected to the clean metal sheet whereas the negative one to the burnt sheet

    * Place a saline solution (water mixed with salt) to cover up the sheets in the jar and place the jar in sunlight to tap the energy and run it into the meter.

The best part about utilizing solar energy to make DIY solar panels is the abundance of this resource across the globe. The most interesting fact about the sun’s energy is that unlike other resources, it is extremely clean, pollution free and does not deplete at all.

This low cost alternative is almost a boon to the alarming depletion of other natural resources and should be utilized to its utmost capacity to benefit the human race.
